best wishes

this post is dedicated to my roommate and best friend Pat. he leaves today for Japan for 2 months or so. even though i cried when i had to say goodbye last night i am so excited for him, he deserves an awesome break from michigan and some ridiculous adventures. he is one of the smartest, funniest, most caring people i know and i know he will be wonderful over there. in fact you too can follow his very witty travel blog the whole time! http://closet0home.blogspot.com/ we will all miss you so much. xo

granola, add bacon

last night 8 of my favorite boys had a reunion ska show with their band Granola Add Bacon. it was filled with music, friends, and lots of dancing. it was so good to see everyone that i was just so sad when it ended. it always makes me realize how much blessed i am to surround myself with people i love so much, even if i don't get to see them all the time. in my head i was thinking, "can't we just do it again?" the funny thing is i think a lot of people were thinking that too.

memorial day

oh nostalgia.

i don't get a chance to go home too often, but when i do in the summertime its always best when filled with a few lazy days, family, highschool friends and trenton-y traditions. going out for breakfast at mom's, iced capps, and late night zorbas coney island trips. today however my mom and i walked up to the memorial day parade to watch all of the veterans and cheer on the THS band. there's just something so proud about watching my brother lead the drumline down the street (me having been drum major of that same band just 3 years ago). those little flags they hand out and listening to the bagpipers play taps just makes me yearn for a hotdog and an apple fritter. as ill be gone out of the country for the 4th of july this year, memorial day will be my little slice of americana.

hope everyone enjoys the sunshine and long weekend!

hello hello.

introductions are awkward. and anyone who says they love those first days in class or work when you have to say your name and one surprising fact about yourself to the rest of the room..is crazy.

on that note. my names elyse, im a freshly 21 year old art and design student in grand rapids, mi. i plan to fill this blog with photos, rantings, inspiration, baking excursions, gnome sightings, my creations and agendas. in a few weeks i'll be traveling to dublin, ireland and this will be a way to catalog my adventures over there as well! so join me as i reveal in art, design, cupcakes, and somewhere in between it all.

love.
